EMPLOYER : CHOWPATY RESTAURANT

Chowpaty chain of restaurants are one of the oldest and most prestigeous in Kenya. They started off with a modest set up at Diamond plaza, which is the heart of the Indian community in Nairobi with a 60 seater restaurant and slowly then expanded  to Westlands, Westpark towers with a 150 seater restaurant and then a pure vegetarian fast food outlet at Diamond plaza and the latest 200 seater restaurant at Highridge centre at Parklands avenue.

“My name is Evans Musyoka. I am 26-year-old  born and raised in Kitui county.  I developed an early interest in cooking and knew then about my passion to become one of the best chefs in the country. However, my aspirations were hindered after the loss my father but then I knew that I had to stand out in order to revive my family background.”

Evans heard about the CAP YEI program, through his friends within Nairobi and was immediately interested in the hospitality course. Recognizing this as an opportunity to pursue his dreams to become one of the best chefs in the world, he eagerly enrolled in the program, which provided him with the necessary training and education in hospitality.

While at CAP YEI, Evans underwent a transformative journey. He not only acquired the technical skills required for the hospitality sector but also developed essential life skills that boosted his confidence and communication abilities.

Through the practical knowledge gained from the program, he became independent and has since let nothing come in between him and his career.

Evans gratitude towards CAP YEI knows no bounds as he reflects on the impact the program has had on her life. Upon completion of his program at Capyei, Evans joined the Chowparty restaurant to practice his newly acquired skills that were acquired during the program. Upon seeing his determination and hard work, Evan managed to secure a chance as a waiter in the restaurant. He is now struggling to make ends meet and can now pay his house rent and support his family.

Looking ahead, Evans is motivated to further his studies in hospitality, aiming to attain a higher level of expertise in her field. Inspired by his journey, he aspires to one day providing similar opportunities to other young individuals in order to carve a brighter path in the hospitality sector. Additionally, Evans’ entrepreneurial ambitions have been ignited, and he envisions establishing his own business in the future, leveraging the skills acquired through the program.
